As a family, we enjoy camping and being in the great outdoors surrounded by nature and making the most of our short-lived Wisconsin summers.  We saw owning an RV as a great way for our family to vacation together comfortably while exploring our beautiful country. An RV vacation can be a very cost effective way to travel while still providing many luxuries. But like anything in life, good advice and customer care can make a huge difference in the quality of the experience. We want to help guide our renters in finding and planning their RV vacations in the most friendly and positive way possible. This is our vision.

Our Favorite Family Camping Vacation
Yellowstone National Park ~ 2013

How Shadow Wood RV Rental came to be ...

It started back in 2011 as we were looking at expanding the time spent camping which our family has come to love and doing some traveling throughout the year during the kid's school breaks!  While we had dreamed of someday owning an RV, we thought it was years off, but decided to look into selling our camper and purchasing an RV for family use anyway.    In searching many dealer websites, we gravitated towards bunk-style RVs as the best fit for our family.  We stumbled on an “own to rent” link that planted a seed of thought that prompted us to purchase an RV which we would also rent out.

Our first motorhome was a 2007 Fleetwood Jamboree Sport-Class C model owned by a firefighter and his wife.  James and Dora Lee had also grown up camping, which grew into a fifth wheel camper, and eventually into this RV.  With their twins getting more active in summer sports and having only 4,300 miles on this RV, this couple decided that the expectation of low use and the poor economy moved them to get out from under the payments to sell.  It was a perfect investment for us to bring to life our RV rental business. After 3 years of using it and loving it, we decided the business was stable and successful enough to upgrade to a 2014 Jayco Greyhawk-Class C model.

Then in 2016, and still going strong with business increasing year after year, we upgraded to a 2013 Fleetwood Storm-Class A model.  Same length as our previous Class C models, but a whole lot more room for storage and believe it or not, easier to drive than a Class C.  Plus you'll fall in LOVE like we did with the spectacular views one can see out of a Class A windshield!

Then in 2017 and going into our 6th year of business, we decided to add a second RV to our "fleet" ... giving our customers an option of choosing between two great RVs. Our "fleet" now included a more deluxe Class A model--a 2015 Winnebago/Itaska Sunstar decked out with all the FREE amenities we have always provided to our customers. The perks of this model go way beyond the extra amenities we provide ... this model offers 2 bathrooms,  3 slide-outs, reclining cab seats, convection oven, electric awning, etc.  The summer season had never been so busy ... but maybe a little too busy considering this isn't something we do for a living, so as fun as it was, we decided at the end of the 2017 season to go back to renting out just one really awesome RV.  This is a spacious, clean, well-maintained RV and it is available to be toured if you desire, by appointment only.

We appreciate how God has guided this process to allow us the opportunity to have these camping and travel experiences for our family and for the ability to make possible the same for other families.   It is with much gratitude for your patronage that allows us to continue this business and to remember ... "We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us!"
